The World Health Organization and the National Institutes of Health recognize Chinese medicine as being effective in treating a wide range of conditions. The health issues most commonly treated at The Tiger Mountain Center for Acupuncture are listed below.

Respiratory

Chinese medicine can be very helpful in treating many respiratory conditions, including asthma, colds and flu, cough, sinusitis, allergies, and chronic bronchitis.

Pain

Modern research has confirmed the usefulness of acupuncture and/or Chinese herbs for treating many different types of pain. Headaches (migraine, tension, sinus, idiopathic), arthritis, back or neck pain, joint pain and acute or chronic muscle strain typically respond well to treatment.

Emotional and Psychological

Many people find that Chinese medicine offers relief from stress, stress induced insomnia, grief, anxiety and depression. In some cases we will recommend that you also see a mental health care practitioner.

Digestive

Chinese medicine's holistic approach is important in resolving digestive issues. We are experienced in treating stomach issues such as reflux, heartburn and nausea. Bowel dysfunctions such as irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, and diarrhea also respond well.

Pediatrics

An increasing number of children are receiving the benefits of Chinese medicine in the United States. We may treat a child using one or more of the following methods: pediatric massage (tui na), acupuncture, acupressure, Chinese herbs and nutrition. The conditions we most commonly treat are pain syndromes, allergies, asthma, cough, colds and flu, ADD/ADHD, eczema and digestive issues.

Women's health issues

Acupuncture and Chinese medicine has been used for a variety of gynecological issues. The World Health Organization has endorsed acupuncture as a common treatment for menstrual irregularities, fertility problems, menopausal symptoms, PMS, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, problems in pregnancy, and recurrent vaginal and urinary tract infections. Recent research has also proven the effectiveness of acupuncture for climatic syndromes secondary to tomoxafen and other breast cancer treatments.

Dermatology

Skin problems such as eczema, hives, and acne often respond well to acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. Psoriasis and herpes are also treated at our clinic.

Sleep disturbances

Recent studies have shown that Chinese medicine is a safe, effective, and side-effect-free treatment for insomnia and somnolence.

Urological Problems

Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture are often used to treat frequent urination, nocturia, prostatitis, and recurrent urinary tract infections.

Cancer

Our practitioners do not specialize in cancer treatment, but do have extensive experience in alleviating the side effects of chemotherapy: nausea, poor appetite and drug-induced hot flashes respond well to treatment. We can refer you to acupuncturists in the area who specialize in cancer care.

Chronic illness

Chinese medicine offers much hope for individuals suffering from a variety of degenerative chronic illnesses. Its holistic approach addresses the cause, as well as the symptoms of long-standing health problems, such as fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, neuropathy, and diabetes.

Cardiovascular Disease

Acupuncture and traditional Chinese Medicine have a long history of successfully treating hypertension, arrhythmia, heart palpitations, and poor circulation.
